Qandeel Baloch summoned in court for ‘bringing shame’ to Baloch tribe
Tuesday, June 28th, 2016 9:34:16 by fatimaarshadSelf-proclaimed internet sensation Qandeel Baloch has been summoned in court after a petition was filed against her. On Monday, Senior Civil Judge Khursheed Ahmad summoned the internet star to court at a hearing on July 13, 2016.
The petition was filed by a lawyer named Shahbaz Ali Khan Gurmani who claims that Qandeel Baloch has brought ‘shame’ to the Baloch race by adopting the surname. He said that he is going to fight the case in court and make sure that this mistake is rectified.
In a separate case, Gadai union council vice chairman Fayaz Khan Leghari of Dera Ghazi Khan has sent Qandeel Baloch a legal notice on Monday demanding that she apologize for ‘bringing shame’ to the Baloch race. His appeal did not stop there as Leghari even demanded that Qandeel should stop using the Baloch surname and that she should pay him Rs. 50 million, “Otherwise, strict action will be taken against you”, says the legal notice.
The notice also says that Qandeel Baloch’s real name was Fauzia Azeem and that she whipped out her screen name out of nowhere, only to bring shame to the Baloch tribe. The notice claims that she has been working along a certain ‘agenda’ and is not of Baloch ethnicity. The notice clarifies that she hails from the Marha Shaikh family, which is not a Baloch tribe.
So far Qandeel Baloch has not responded to this new case but by law she has to be present in court when she is summoned.
