Rio de Janeiro is marred with incidents of violence and crimes and the upcoming Olympic games in the city will prove to be a challenge amid the precarious financial and political situation of the country. The county is also going through a very bad phase of recession and a financial emergency has been declared by the current governor of the city.
Despite celebrating the first Olympics to be ever held in South America, the games will prove to be a challenge to be held if the money does not come through. The Olympics, which are scheduled to begin on August 5, were supposed to showcase a booming Brazil but that boom has fizzled out in Latin America’s biggest country.
Now the country awaits an emergency funding of $892 million to ensure that public services are provided during the course of the Olympic games.
