Imran Khan’s sister tenders written apology to Maryam Nawaz over false allegation
Monday, July 4th, 2016 12:12:25 by fatimaarshadOn Friday, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s sister, Dr Uzma Khan and her family were harassed by security officials of a VIP entourage. Dr Uzma was informed at that time that the security detail belonged to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz.
Dr Uzma did not let the case go easy and held a press conference giving details of her horrific experience and blamed the PM’s daughter for that. However, it was later discovered that the security detail belonged to someone else, so Dr Uzma wrote a formal apology to Maryam Nawaz, copy of which is also available over the internet.
In that apology, Dr. Uzma recounted the horrible experience which she had on July 1, and said that when she asked who the entourage belonged to, she was told that it was that of Maryam Nawaz. In that letter she mentions Asim Gujjar’s name as the person who misinformed her. She stated, “Asim Gujjar created a misunderstanding by holding Maryam Nawaz’s protocol responsible for the harassment incident.”
Dr. Uzma later apologized in the letter to Maryam Nawaz and signed it under her own name.
In the press conference earlier held by Dr. Uzma, she recounted her horrible experience with the security detail of a VIP while she and her family were on their way to Friday prayers. Dr. Uzma recounted that she was abused, harassed and nearly crushed to death by the vehicle of the security detail and when she inquired about whom it belonged to, she was misinformed by a person named Asim Gujjar that it belonged to Maryam Nawaz.
Maryam Nawaz was quick to respond by saying that she was in Islamabad at the time the incident took place and that the security protocol did not belong to her.
It was later found out that the security entourage belonged to President Azad Kashmir, Sardar Yaqoob.
