Two teenage Muslim boys brutally beaten outside Brooklyn mosque
Monday, July 4th, 2016 1:22:07 by fatimaarshadThe world is becoming a dangerous place for Muslims living in Western countries, and an incident in Brooklyn, New York, reiterated this fact. Two teenage boys were brutally beaten outside a Brooklyn mosque in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
The two boys were returning home after their Taraweeh prayers when an unidentified man attacked them and called them ‘terrorists’. The incident took place at 1:18 AM at the Muslim Community Center of Brooklyn located in Sunset Park.
The director of the mosque, Mohamed Bahe talked to reporters and told them that he had been repeatedly asking the local authorities to provide security outside the mosque for fear of such an incident taking place. Bahe said that he had a feeling such a thing would occur considering it’s the holy month of Ramazan and the rising intolerance against Muslims.
Police initially said that they had no record of the incident, however a representative from their department later confirmed that the incident had been reported. “This incident did happen in the vicinity of a mosque to two individuals of Muslim faith,” the spokesperson said. “This is going to be classified as a non-bias incident.”
According to the details provided, the two boys had just gotten out of the mosque after their taraweeh prayers and noticed a car parked outside with a woman sitting in it. They went to ask if everything was alright when a man came running from the opposite end of the street and started beating the boys calling them a terrorist.
The local police visited the mosque the next day and apologized for not sending security detail earlier. The officer insured Bahe that they are taking the incident seriously.
