Orlando club shooter made false claims of ties with terrorists to protect himself from bullies
Tuesday, July 19th, 2016 4:48:08 by fatimaarshadReports are now surfacing about Omar Mateen, the Orlando gay club shooter who killed 49 people and injured more than 50. According to the latest documents revealed, Mateen would get teased and bullied at work regularly for being a Muslim, due to which he made false claims about having connections with terrorists.
A letter written by Mateen to his bosses has surfaced in which he revealed the reason for claiming to his colleagues that he has links with terrorist organizations. In a document released yesterday, Mateen said that other guards at the St. Lucie courthouse would gang up on him and tease him for being a Muslim.
Whenever any package got delivered at the courthouse, another guard often said; We have to be careful Omar may send us a bomb and he will get his 72 virgins,” Mateen wrote, according to the records.
In another instance, a deputy teased Mateen that his fingers had pork oil on them and that he was going to wipe them on Mateen’s shirt.
When Mateen’s alleged links to terrorist groups were reported to authorities, an investigation was conducted in 2013 and the FBI determined that he was not really a threat.
“I love the United States. The boasting I did it just to satisfy the gang of co-workers who ganged up against me,” Mateen wrote in a letter to his bosses at G4S Secure Solutions, according to the documents released by the sheriff’s office. “I’m 1,000 percent pure American. … I’m against these terrorists anyone of them.”
Mateen was again investigated due to his alleged links with a Syrian suicide bomber but even then he was cleared of any suspicion.
When the FBI was reached for their comments, they refused to respond as this is an ongoing investigation.
