Awais Shah, Son Of SHC CJ Recovered In KP Raid: “All credit goes to the army”

Director General ISPR Lieutenant General Asim Bajwa revealed Shah’s recovery on Tuesday in a pre-dawn tweet. Three terrorists were also eliminated during the operation.
“Awais Shah son of Sind Chief Justice recovered through an IBO from custody of terrorists from near Tank, 3 terrorists killed,” Bajwa tweeted.
On Tuesday morning, Shah was driven home by Rangers personnel as people in the neighborhood shared sweets to celebrate his recovery.
Shah was transported to Faisal Base Karachi from Tank in a special aircraft and later moved to his home under heavy security.
As he reunited with his son and talking to journalists, SHC CJ Sajjad Ali Shah praised the armed forces for the successful rescue of his son Awais Ali Shah. Though Awais Shah appeared briefly, he did not talk to media personnel.
“All credit goes to the army,” the judge stated, mentioning that the army chief had been personally supervising the team formed by DG ISI to recover his son.
The CJ said the “army is not separate from the government”, when questioned as to the role of the government in his son’s recovery.
“Gen Raheel Sharif called me at 3 in the night and told me that my son has been recovered.”
“He was kind enough to let me talk to my son when I asked, and he was kind enough to arrange a plane and got him here from Tank.”
The judge claimed to have “absolutely no idea” as to which group was behind the kidnapping.
“All I know at this time is that my son is back.”
Earlier on, the ISPR had said Awais Ali Shah was safe and soung and under the protection of security forces and will be transferred to his home and to his parents during the day.
Bajwa also said that the chief of army staff applauded the efforts of the Intelligence and security forces for the successful operation. He additionally called and congratulated CJ Sindh on the recovery of his son.
“COAS commended efforts of Int &security forces for successful op.COAS also called &congratulated CJ Sind on recovery of his son.”
Joining in congratulating CJ Sajjad Ali Shah on the rescue of his son was the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who also commended security forces.
A statement issued by his office read “The Prime Minister lauded the role of intelligence agencies and security forces in recovering Mr. Awais Shah and said that the professional and operational excellence of our security forces has made it possible for which they deserve immense appreciation.”
Shah had been abducted on June 20 from Clifton area of Karachi. According to officials, Shah who was a high court lawyer had departed from the SHC en route to Clifton to meet a friend but had not reached there and his phone remained off. It was later confirmed that he had been kidnapped.
On the directives of the Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah, a special investigation had been implemented to investigate the abduction of Shah. The Rangers had also announced a reward of Rs2,500,000 for reliable information with regards to the whereabouts of Awais Ali Shah.
Initially, police officials feared that Shah would be used as a ‘bargaining chip’ to secure the release of some captured militants.
