India was on the verge of bombing Pakistan during Kargil War

Some reports have been found which claim that the Indian Air Force was completely ready to launch an offensive against Pakistan during the Kargil War. These reports claim that even though all preparations had been made, in the end it was decided not to go ahead with this decision and a major war was averted.

The report claims that at the height of the Kargil War on June 13, 1999, Indian Air Force fighter pilots had been given orders to launch a full-fledged air attack deep inside Pakistan. Targets had been assigned to these pilots, routes and maps were finalized and orders were given to load their personal revolvers and carry them around all the time. Even Pakistani currency was provided to these pilots in case they had to eject on Pakistani soil and orchestrate an escape.

Then all of a sudden, orders were given not to go ahead with the offensive, after which failed negotiations took place in New Delhi between then Indian foreign minister Jaswant Singh and his Pakistani counterpart, Sartaj Aziz.

The Pakistani foreign minister was given terms to end the conflict between both countries. Some of these terms included; “withdraw Pakistani intruders from the Kargil mountains, abandon the demand for redrawing the Line of Control or de facto border in Kashmir, urgently restore the status quo by accepting the Line of Control as it had been defined for decades, and punish those who tortured six Indian soldiers” NDTV reported.
