Police official investigating Qandeel Baloch’s murder suspended
Wednesday, July 20th, 2016 1:16:47 by fatimaarshadA police official who was responsible for conducting investigations into social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch’s murder, has been suspended for conducting substandard investigations into the case. According to the details provided, poor investigation and negligence are the reasons for which the officer has been suspended.
The inspector in charge for the case, Homicide Unit In-Charge Inspector Ilyas Haider has been replaced by inspector Attiya Jafri. Jafri is known for conducting transparent investigations into murder, rape and acid attack cases.
It was reported by police officials privy to the case that Haider was found to be ‘soft’ on Mufti Abdul Qavi and was even seen ‘favoring’ him. This led to the decision of replacing him so that this case can be investigated fairly.
Mufti Abdul Qavi has also been included in the list of suspects who are being investigated in Baloch’s murder case. Just a month prior to her murder, Mufti Qavi and Qandeel’s selfies made the rounds on the internet, costing him his membership in the moon-sighting committee.
Qandeel Baloch was found dead in her house in Multan and her brother admitted to killing her for the sake of ‘honor’. Her brother, Waseem Azeem, said that he killed his sister because she brought disgrace to the family and that he had been planning this crime for a long time. Waseem has been shifted to Lahore for lie detection test as there have been some loopholes found in his account and there are speculations that someone else might be involved in her murder too.
