Qandeel’s Cousin Goes In For Police Investigation
Monday, July 25th, 2016 5:18:21 by modousarrOn Monday, a cousin of social media starlet, Qandeel Baloch turned himself in to police on Monday for investigation.
Speaking under anonymity, a senior police officer mentioned that Haq Nawaz turned himself in to the Kala police station in Dera Ghazi Khan, as he was suspected of being involved in the murder.
Waseem, Qandeel’s brother, while confessing claimed that he acted alone and that he drugged and strangled his sister.
The police officer stated that the police were, however, considering investigating Haq Nawaz and his likely involvement in the murder.
Waseem was also made to take a polygraph and DNA tests at a forensic lab in Lahore on Friday.
Earlier this month, Qandeel Baloch was strangled to death in her house in Multan’s Karimabad area. Her father accused Waseem of killing his sister for honor.
Following her murder, the PML-N government encountered rising demands to pass the long-delayed legislation on honor killings that would eliminate a loophole permitting family members to pardon a killer.
Maryam Nawaz, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter previously mentioned that the government intended on passing the bill regarding ‘honor killings’ unanimously and had been in discussion with religious parties in parliament.
She stated that once the parliamentary committee agreed to the bill, it would be presented before a joint session of parliament for a vote in a “couple of weeks”.
