Priest killed in France church attack
Tuesday, July 26th, 2016 3:08:02 by fatimaarshadEurope is currently under the siege of a series of terror attacks taking place in different countries all across Europe. In a recent event, a priest was killed and several people were taken hostage at a church located in the south of France.
According to the details provided of the incident, two men armed with knives and blades, entered a church located in the area called Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvary near Rouen. At that time there were several worshippers present at the church along with nuns and a priest.
The knife wielding men held all those present at the church, hostage and reportedly killed one of the hostages. It is being said that the person who died was the priest of the church.
Immediately after that, the police arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area entirely. Several gunshots were heard once the police entered the church and it was later reported that the suspects had been ‘neutralized’.
It was later reported that both the suspects were shot dead by the police and no further details of the operation were revealed. During the operation, France’s national police force issued a tweet urging people not to cross the security cordon and not to take photos or videos of the scene.
So far it is not clear who the attackers were and what was their motive but it is being speculated that it was a terror attack.
This church attack comes just a fortnight after a French national of Tunisian decent drove a heavy truck over a crowd of people celebrating Bastille day in the city of Nice. During that attack, 84 people were killed.
