According to the details of the case, a British woman of Pakistani origin by the name of Saima Shahid, is claimed to have been killed by her own family in the name of honor. These claims are being made by the deceased woman’s own husband, Syed Mukhtar Kazim, who gave his own account to the police regarding what might have happened.
According to Kazim’s side of the story, him and his wife Saima, had married of their own choice after Saima got divorced from her former husband and cousin, Chaudhary Shakil. After marrying, they settled in Dubai and were living peacefully when Saima got a call from her mother, Imtiaz Bibi, saying that her father, Chaudhary Shahid was not well and that she should come back immediately.
Saima believed her mother and arrived in Pakistan on July 14. After she came back, she called Kazim and told him that her father was perfectly fine and that she was fearful and felt threatened.
Kazim said that after that his wife’s phone was continuously turned off. After a few days when he called Saima’s home, her cousin Shakil answered and told Kazim that Saima had passed away due to cardiac arrest.
Kazim now claims that her own family killed Saima and he lodged an FIR against her father Chaudhary Shahid, mother Imtiaz Bibi, sister Madiha Shahid, cousin Mobeen and the deceased woman’s former husband Chaudhary Shakil under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 34 (common intention) and 109 (abetment) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
