Samia Shahid’s father, first husband arrested in ‘honor killing’ case

Samia Shahid, a British national of Pakistani origin, was allegedly murdered by her family in the name of honor and according to the latest details; her father and first husband have been arrested in connection with the case.

As investigations into the case progress, another cousin of the deceased woman and her friend who was found with Samia’s passport, have also been arrested.

Samia Shahid was previously married to her cousin named Muhammad Shakil but the couple got divorced due to differences. Samia later married a man by the name of Syed Mukhtar Kazim, against the wishes of her family and she moved to Dubai with him.

The couple was living happily when one day, Samia’s sister called her and told her that their father was not doing well. Upon hearing this, Samia came back to Pakistan on July 14, and later found out that her father was doing perfectly well.

Samia later called up Kazim and shared her fears with him and also said that she was feeling threatened at her own home. That was the last time Kazim talked to his wife as her cell phone was turned off after that. He was later told by Samia’s cousin that she died due to cardiac arrest.

On the other hand, Samia’s family told the police that she had committed suicide.

Kazim is convinced that her own family killed Samia and lodged an FIR against them.

Kazim has also asked the police to exhume his wife’s body and conduct postmortem on it so that the real truth can be found out regarding the circumstances of her death.
