‘Hot headed’ waiter slams customer with wooden board at a famous Lahore restaurant
Monday, August 1st, 2016 1:15:35 by fatimaarshadA customer got assaulted by a ‘hot headed’ waiter in Lahore’s DHA area for merely asking why his food was late. The incident took place at a famous Lahore restaurant named Rina’s Kitchenette, and a video of the incident went viral after a fellow customer filmed and posted it on Facebook.
In the video, the waiter can be seen smashing a wooden board in a customer’s face after he complained that his food was late. The waiter is then seen fleeing the restaurant as shocked on-lookers sit there in disbelief.
“I was just sitting at Rina’s kitchenette with my family when one of the waiters just slashed a wooden board on a customers face right across our table three times and then broke a glass on the other table where another family was sitting,” an eye-witness, Shayan Malik, posted on Facebook.
Another witness by the name of Irfan Ahmad, also took to social media to recount what happened. “I was sitting on the table next to the victims. My 13-month-old kid was almost crushed under the victim as he fell unconscious. The waiter went out of his way and for no reason he smashed the wooden tray on his head.”
Ahmad went on to say, “The victim only wanted to meet the manager because they kept him waiting for 40 minutes for their order and then said the particular food was not available.”
Rina’s Kitchenette’s management issued an apology saying that such an incident is regretful and that there is no excuse for violence. The management also gave a background detail on the waiter, saying that he had done his BBA and was currently pursuing MBA from a local university in Lahore. He had been hired after a rigorous interview process and was on the third day of his trial period at the restaurant.
The video of the incident has been taken down from Facebook on request of the victim.
