Pakistani citizen killed by Indian soldiers after he mistakenly crosses border
Tuesday, August 2nd, 2016 1:41:04 by fatimaarshadA Pakistani citizen was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Kasur, after he reportedly crossed the border without his knowledge. According to the details provided of the incident, the Pakistani citizen, identified as Iqbal Ejaz, was a shepherd by profession, and he was grazing his cattle in Bhaki Wand area of Kasur. He accidentally crossed the border by mistake and was immediately shot dead by Indian BSF personnel.
Usually when such an incident takes place, the suspect is first given a warning that he or she has crossed over to the neighboring country’s side and that the person should go back. The BSF is only allowed to take such drastic steps if the other person fails to comply.
After shooting Ejaz, the BSF personnel even took his body with them and did not return it. The Pakistani Rangers took notice of the incident and protested strongly against it. Upon protesting, the BSF returned Ejaz’s body, which the Rangers handed over to his relatives.
The firing is an open violation of the recent decision which took place as a result of talks between the Pakistan Rangers and India’s BSF. The talks took place during a two-day bi- annual meeting between the Pakistani Rangers and BSF on July 19 and 20. During these meetings, matters related to border management are discussed and deliberated.
After the recent violation of the agreed terms, the Rangers officials have demanded convening of a flag meeting.
