Dutch man waits for Chinese girlfriend at airport for 10 days
Wednesday, August 3rd, 2016 2:56:29 by fatimaarshadA Dutch man remained stranded at a Chinese airport for his online girlfriend who had promised to meet him there. A romantic at heart, 41-year-old Alexander Pieter Cirk flew all the way from Holland to Hunan province in the hopes of meeting the woman with whom he saw a future together. Sadly, she never turned up and instead, Cirk remained at the airport for ten days and he eventually had to be taken to the hospital for treatment of physical exhaustion.
According to the details of the incident, Cirk got introduced to 26-year-old Zhang on a dating app two months ago and they soon became fond of each other. The two eventually agreed to meet up, prompting Cirk to take this trip across the globe to meet his girlfriend.
However, after Zhang failed to show up, Cirk refused to leave the airport and eventually after 10 days his body finally gave up and his was taken to the hospital. When the incident was reported on television, Zhang got to know about it and she contacted the TV channel and told them that she thought the entire episode was a joke.
Zhang told reporters that she was in another province for plastic surgery, that is why her phone was turned off. For that reason, when Cirk tried to contact Zhang, he could not get in touch with her.
“We had advanced our romantic relationship but later he seemed a little callous towards me,” Zhang told Hunan TV.
“One day he sent me a photo of air tickets abruptly and I thought it was a joke. He didn’t contact me later.”
In the end Zhang did express her wish to continue with the relationship and see Cirk some other time once she recovered from her surgery.
