New revelations cast doubt on Samia Shahid’s father regarding his involvement in her murder

Some new revelations have come to light casting doubt on Samia Shahid’s father, Chaudhary Shahid’s involvement in the murder case of his daughter. Samia, a British national of Pakistani origin, had come to Pakistan from Dubai, just a few weeks back when her family lied to her about her father’s ailing health. When Samia came to Pakistan, she was allegedly murdered but her family claimed that she committed suicide.

The police have found out that Chaudhary Shahid left out some crucial information when he was questioned by the police regarding his daughter’s murder. According to a copy of the Shahid’s statement with the police, he did not mention that Samia’s first husband had gone missing immediately after her murder.

This omission has given the police new reasons to suspect that the father is involved in the murder in some way. On Sunday, Shahid even declined to recognize Samia’s second husband, Muhammad Mukhtar Kazam, in front of a high-level investigation committee which was formed last week to probe the murder.

Meanwhile Samia’s sister and mother are already being interrogated by the police. Their statements have been recorded but they still have not been completely cleared by the police.

Contentions between Samia and her family started after she took a divorce from her first husband and counsin Muhammad Shakil and later went on to marry Kazam out of her own choice. The couple then moved to Dubai and was living there happily till the time Samia was called back by her family.

Due to Samia’s nationality, the case has garnered international attention and there is a lot of pressure on the government to find her real killers.
