Boy dies while riding world’s tallest water slide in Kansas
Tuesday, August 9th, 2016 12:58:47 by fatimaarshadA young boy died at a Kansas park which has the ‘world’s tallest water slide’, while riding that slide. The young boy, named Caleb Thomas Schwab was the son of Kansas State Rep. Scott Schwab, and he was just 10-years-old.
The incident took place on a slide at Schlitterbahn Water Park, which is termed the ‘world’s tallest’ by Guinness World Records and it stands at a whopping 168-feet-taller than the Statue of Liberty. The are 264 stairs which one has to take in order to reach the top of the slide and it is named ‘Verruckt’ which means ‘insane’ in German.
A raft carrying three people comes down the slide and each person who takes the ride, has to be at least 54 inches tall.
Initially there were no details of the incident provided, but later, an eye witness told a horrifying account of what actually happened. According to the eye witness, he heard a thumping sound while the raft was coming down and he later notices that the first seat of the raft was empty while a body washed up after the raft.
He was horrified to see a decapitated boy lying lifeless on the water slide, and at that moment, the lifeguard quickly pushed the crowd back. Apparently the boy’s neck snapped as he fell of the raft and he died at the spot.
Another park-goer told reporters that his 14-year-old daughter had taken the same seat as the boy and she had told her father that towards the end of the ride, the Velcro of her seat-belt came off itself.
Meanwhile, Caleb’s father released the following statement after his son’s death; “As we try and mend our home with him no longer with us, we are comforted knowing he believed in his savior, Jesus, and they are forever together now. We will see him another day.”
The park has been closed since the incident took place on Sunday and so far, an opening date has not been told.
