Police arrest leader of gang which blackmailed women over the internet
Monday, August 15th, 2016 5:47:44 by fatimaarshadPolice have busted the leader of a gang which used to befriend women over the internet and later blackmail them for money.
According to the details of the incident, police on Monday came across a young woman who was with a man at the Peshawar-Islamabad Rashakai interchange, when she started screaming for help. It turned out that the woman, identified as Misbah Saleem, was being held by her captor, Mehran, against her wishes.
Misbah had been kidnapped by Mehran and when she saw police officers approaching, she shouted for help and ended up catching their attention. During investigations, Misbah told police officers that Mehran had sent her a friendship request three months ago and started talking to her regularly. He later tricked her into sending her own pictures and of other women in her family.
Once Misbah got hold of her pictures, he started blackmailing Misbah into meeting her. He then met with her several times and eventually on August 14, he asked her to go with him. Misbah said that out of fear of her reputation, she went with Mehran as he promised her that he would delete her pictures if she did. She later told police officers that Mehran was high on drugs and kept abusing her on the way.
When the police investigated Misbah, they found 800 plus pictures of different women on his cell phone, which he had apparently shared with seven other members of his group.
Police also found drugs in Mehran’s custody. He was arrested at the spot and presented to Judicial Magistrate Sheraz Tariq.
Meanwhile after the incident, Misbah’s parents have refused to accept her.
