Woman beaten by mob for allegedly kidnapping boy who turned out to be her son

A woman was beaten badly by an angry mob in Lahore for thinking that she had kidnapped a boy which eventually turned out to be her own son. The incident took place in Shalimar area of Lahore on Sunday night when the woman was found to be acting suspicious by the passing-by people.

The woman identified as Sadia of Bogiwal and her 10-year-old son Adil were on their way in a street when a family stopped them and without questioning, started beating her for allegedly kidnapping the child who was with her. The family claimed that Sadia was acting suspicious and the complexion of the boy did not even match with the woman due to which they suspected that she had kidnapped her.

A large crowd gathered around and started beating Sadia and she was badly injured. After hearing the commotion, a family in the neighborhood rescued the woman and took her to their house. The mob reached there as well and demanded the family to hand Sadia over but the family refused and later turned her over to the police.

Later at the police station, the woman and the boy were identified as mother and son and it had turned out that Sadia was trying to steal something by entering a house on the street where she was found.

Sadia refused to register a complaint against the mob.

These days a number of children of different ages have been kidnapped from different areas of Punjab and panic runs high among parents.
