The city of Karachi is under a wave of panic as there have been multiple reports of kidnappings reported in the city. According to these rumors, children and women have been kidnapped from various parts of the city.

Despite such widespread panic, these rumors were dispelled by Police Chief Mushtaq Maher, who has termed them as baseless.

A statement released by the chief police stated that these rumors about children and female kidnappings are not based on any facts. “There is no truth in children being in children being kidnapped systematically or in a planned way or dead bodies being recovered,” the police chief said.

Maher further added that these rumors are being spread with mal-intentions so that terror is created in the minds of parents in order to discredit the efforts of the police and the Rangers, who have been working hard to bring back peace to the city. “Such unverified and untruthful information is vehemently denied as it is not based on facts”, he said.

Meanwhile the police have requested the parents to not pay any heed to all such rumors and instead, carry on with their normal lives.

The Chairman of All Private Schools Association Sindh, Khalid Shah, said that a circular related to kidnapping had been sent out to parents by some private schools in the city, but that this was not an official measure. He further clarified that panic had been created through social media and that no such information was provided at the official level.
