Altaf Hussain apologizes to General Raheel Sharif for anti-Pakistan tirade

A day after the fiasco, Altaf Hussain apologized to the army establishment including Army chief General Raheel Sharif and Sindh Director General (DG) Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar, for his anti-Pakistan speech and the resulting chaos.
“From the depth of my heart, I beg pardon from my remarks against Pakistan, the establishment, including General Raheel Sharif and DG Rangers,” Altaf said in a statement.
Hussain further added that he was under severe mental stress due to extra-judicial arrests and the condition of his party workers who had been sitting in a hunger strike camp outside the Karachi Press Club.
“Being a Pakistani, I assure the Pakistani people, establishment, army, ISI, all higher authorities and leaders that I will never use such words again,” the statement read.
A day earlier, the MQM chief had made some anti-Pakistan remarks which pumped up his party workers who ended up thrashing a media house and injuring several people. The MQM party workers ransacked ARY television station in Karachi before clashing up with the police there. Due to the altercation, one person ended up dying while several others were badly injured.
Due to the fighting and chaos, Rangers had to step in to control the situation resulting in the arrest of several party workers. At least nine MQM leaders, including Farooq Sattar and Amir Liaquat were detained by the Rangers while the party’s headquarters, Nine Zero, was also searched and eventually sealed.
