According to the details provided of the incident, the father, identified as Kengo Satake, stabbed his 12-year-old son to death after complaining that his son was not studying for an entrance exam to a school.
The 48-year-old father said that entrance to a prestigious school is very difficult in Japan, and his son did not realize the seriousness of the issue. The man, identified as Kengo Satake, has been detained by police after his son passed away.
According to the details provided by the police, Satake told the investigating officer that he had ‘argued with his son for not studying’. He further added that he had killed his son by ‘mistake’ and that he never wanted that to happen.
Immediately after the incident, the stabbed boy, named Ryota, was taken to a hospital on an ambulance. However, he died on the way due to loss of blood.
“The father stabbed his son in the chest with a kitchen knife,” a police spokesman from Aichi prefectural police department said, declining to provide details of the motive. Satake was arrested by the police as soon as they got a call from the hospital that Ryota had died.
Ryota was aiming to enter one of the leading private junior high schools in Aichi prefecture and his father had regularly reprimanded him for not studying enough. The boy’s mother was at work when the unfortunate incident took place.
