Father kills son, fakes it as kidnapping case

A man from Lahore has been arrested for allegedly killing his five-year-old son from his first wife and later faking it as a kidnapping case.

Police on Thursday, arrested Ahmad Asahullah of Shalimar for killing his son Muhammad Ahmad, by drowning him in the BRB Canal. Initially, Asadullah faked a kidnapping story by taking advantage of the kidnapping rumors circulating in the city, but when police found loopholes in his story, he later admitted to killing his own son.

Asadullah initially told the police that he had gone to the Baghbanpura market with his son on August 17 when he got kidnapped. Asadullah said that he left his son on his bike and went in a shop to buy utensils but when he returned, the boy had gone missing. He alleged that some unidentified people might have kidnapped his boy.

Based on this story, a kidnapping case was registered at the Shalimar police station and the police started searching for the boy.

On August 22, a minor boy’s dead body was found in the BRB canal in Mustafabad area near Kasur district. The Shalimar police went to Kasur Hospital and also called Asadullah’s father there who identified the boy as his grandson.

Fresh investigations started into the case and it was later discovered that Asadullah had never visited the Baghbanpura market as he had claimed. The discovery was made through mobile data. During investigations, Asadullah had also changed his story several times, due to which the police got suspicious.

When police pressured him, Asadullah finally admitted to killing his own son. He said that after his second wife gave birth to a baby boy, he started having thoughts that his first-born might kill his step-brother over property dispute once he grew up. Based on these thoughts he took Ahmad to BRB Canal and pushed him into the water when the boy wasn’t looking.

The DSP said police arrested the suspect, his second wife, father-in-law and a friend.
