Custom Inspector’s murder case: terrorism charge included in FIR against model Ayyan Ali
Friday, September 2nd, 2016 12:26:03 by fatimaarshadA local court on Thursday refused to hear the statement of model Ayyan Ali in the murder case of Customs Inspector Chaudhry Ejaz Ahmed. The refusal was made because the magistrate was made aware by a public prosecutor that she has been booked under Section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), which makes the court unable to hear this case.
Ayyan Ali had approached the local magistrate to record her statement in the murder case after the Waris Khan police refused to accept her written statement which she had sent to the police via courier. However, by the time she went to the police station to record the statement in person, it had already gotten too late as the court has now directed the model to address to the Anti-Terrorism court.
Chaudhry Ejaz Ahmed was murdered last June in the Waris Khan police limits. He was a key witness in the money laundering case launched against Ayyan Ali. When the local magistrate took up her case for hearing today, he was told by the public prosecutor that Ali’s name has been included in the murder case under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).
Ali’s counsel disputed the claim, saying that his client had nothing to do with Ejaz’s murder as she herself was in jail at that time. He alleged that the interior minister had ordered the police to include the terrorism charges against the model to make the case more complicated and to prolong it.
The case has not been transferred to the Counter-Terrorism Department from the police and will be heard in a relevant court.
