Four terrorists killed during attack on Christian Colony in Peshawar
Friday, September 2nd, 2016 11:20:39 by fatimaarshadA terrorist attack on Christian Colony located on Warsak Road in Peshawar was foiled by security forces who responded promptly when the terrorists struck. Due to the quick response by the security forces, major catastrophe was averted and four terrorists were killed in the exchange of fire.
According to the details of the incident provided, four suicide bombers armed with ammunition entered the Christian Colony at 5:50 AM on Wednesday after hitting a guard. The guards quickly noted the trespassers and opened fire on them.
Security forces were informed of the attack and they surrounded the entire colony. An exchange of fire ensued in which the four terrorists were killed. Army’s Quick Response Force (QRF) engaged the militants and reinforcements were sent promptly to foil the attack.
Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif appreciated Army, Frontier Corps and police for prompt and effective response and defeating the terrorists’ attempt.
Two FC soldiers, a police constable, two civil guards, one levies official and one civilian were injured while one civilian was martyred.
As news of the attack spread, the local hospitals were informed and a state of emergency was imposed. The injured were quickly transferred to the Lady Reading Hospital where they are being treated.
According to a statement released by ISPR, the terrorists were between the ages of 20 to 24 years and heavy ammunition was also found on them. Each militant carried around 8-10 kilograms of explosives.
Four guns, four suicide jackets and four hand grenades were found, sources said. The suicide jackets were diffused by the bomb disposal squad.
