Bride shot to death before reaching wedding venue

What was supposed to be the happiest day in a woman’s life, turned out to be the saddest for her family as a young bride was killed in Rawalpindi. The incident took place last evening when the wedding was supposed to take place.

The victim has been identified as Amina Bibi, 27, who was a resident of Rawalpindi.

According to the details provided by the police, the bride was on her way to the wedding venue when the incident took place. She had just gotten ready from the parlor and was sitting at the back seat of her car when two assailants stopped the car on Chakri road and opened fire. Her killers, who were on a motorbike, then fled the crime scene.

Amina received four bullet wounds and she died at the spot. The driver remained unhurt during the incident.

According to the details provided by the police, one of the motorcyclists who shot Amina was actually her cousin, Mohammad Zubair. Even Amina’s brother told the police that their paternal cousin is behind this murder as he was opposed to this marriage.

Amina’s marriage had been arranged outside of the family and the bride’s paternal side was opposed to it. So far it is not clear whether Zubair wanted to marry Amina himself.

A murder case has been registered with the Saddar Bairooni police station. The FIR was registered on the behest of the deceased bride’s mother.

This is not the first time that someone from Amina’s family was murdered. Five years ago her sister was also murdered due to family enmity.
