Newborn baby looks like 80-year-old due to rare medical condition

A baby boy born to a poor family in Bangladesh looks like an 80-year-old man due to a rare medical condition. The baby is born to a couple that lives in Bangladesh’s Bhulbaria village and despite his appearance; his birth is being celebrated with jubilation.

According to the details provided, the baby boy, who is born to Parul Patro, wife of Biswajit Patro, suffers from a rare medical condition called progeria. Sufferers of progeria age up to eight times faster than normal human beings and they even die at a younger age.

The infant has wrinkles on his face, hollow eyes, drooping eyelids and a shrunken body, just like a very old man. When one looks at the infant, it is quite easy to tell that he looks like an aged man.

Despite the boy’s condition, the father, who is a poor farmer in Bhulbarian village, is really happy about the birth of his son, and he hopes that one day his son will help him in the fields. The Patros have an elder daughter, and in a country where daughters are considered a burden, the baby boy’s birth is really a reason for celebrations.

After the birth when Biswajit was told that his son looks like him, he said; “Our first child Aparna, has taken after her mother. But my boy looks like me, and I am happy,” India Today reported.

On being asked if he was worried about his son’s condition or his looks, the overjoyed father of two said, “I am not unhappy, nor do I feel any sorrow that my son is different.”

Both mother and baby are doing fine according to the hospital where the delivery took place.
