The warning was given to the PTI leadership by the City District Government Lahore (CGDL), which also advised the party to postpone this rally as public security is a huge concern at this point. In this regard, the Lahore DCO has written a letter to Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, who is PTI’s district rural president. The letter (DOC/HC(G)3748) dated September 29, informs about the threat to the attendees of the rally and it is titled; ‘Terrorist activities against the PTI rally in Lahore’.
According to the details provided, the City District Government Lahore, learnt about this possible threat from the Home Department. The threat alert stated that it has been found out through sources that RAW is planning out a terrorist activity on PTI’s rally scheduled to take place on September 30, in coordination with NDS.
The DCO’s letter further elaborated that another threat alert detailed how some Afghan nationals are planning transportation of a vehicle to Lahore in preparation for some terrorist activity. The letter added that possibility of preparation of the vehicles of VBIED attack in Lahore cannot be ruled out.
The letter ended by advising against a public gathering of such a huge scale at Adda Plot on Raiwind Road.
Despite this clear threat, it is still not clear whether PTI will call off this rally, as so far, preparations for the rally are in full swing and people have already started coming to the venue.
