In the meeting, it was deliberated and decided to impose a sanction in which marriage halls are to close by 10 PM and shopping centers by 7 PM every day.
These new directives were given on Friday by the Chief Minister and he wants strict implementation of these policies by Nov 1, 2016. Shah was chairing a meeting at Chief Minister House to review the implementation of decisions taken in regard to the timings of marriage halls and shopping centers.
Karachi is a metropolitan city with people coming from all walks of life. Wedding functions in the city carry on till late at night and the shopping centers are also full of hustle and bustle till late hours. The decision for the early closure of these places is sure to create a backlash amongst citizens and the business community.
In order to soften the blow the chief minister asked the participants of the meeting to take the traders’ association, administration of shopping malls and business tycoons into confidence over the decision. He also directed the industries, the labour department and the district administration to ensure that these timings are followed in true letter and spirit. Directions were also given to update him on the situation on a daily basis.
It was also decided during the meeting to impose a three-dishe restriction at marriage functions.
