Karan Johar distances himself from Pakistani artists
Wednesday, October 19th, 2016 12:52:53 by fatimaarshadIndian producer and director Karan Johar has finally succumbed to the pressure of extremists in India as he recently released a short video expressing his regret over casting Pakistani actors in his films and vowing not to do so in the future.
The video was released on Tuesday, in which a somber-looking Johar explained the circumstances in which he had casted Pakistani actors and how he regretted his decision.
Johar’s latest movie, ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is due to be released soon and already extremists in India had announced to ban the movie in different states because it starred famous Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in it.
Johar said in the video that he was heartbroken for being called anti-nationalistic, whereas the reality was far from this fact. He further explained that when he cast Khan in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ the circumstances were very different.
“For me, my country comes first,” he said.
He further implored people to understand that more than 300 people were affiliated with the upcoming movie and if it was banned, their livelihood would also be affected.
Johar’s apology to his nation comes at a time when tensions between both the neighboring countries are running high due to the recent Uri attacks. After the attack, India blamed Pakistan for the attack and situation at the border worsened.
Indian nationalists and extremists asked for the ban of Pakistani actors and singers who were working in India and asked for them to leave their country.
Even Johar received threats due to casting Fawad Khan in the upcoming movie but now he has denounced Pakistani actors and he now hopes that there will be no threat to his movie.
The movie is expected to release in over 2700 screens on Diwali despite a ban on it.
