According to the latest reports, crew members of PIA were involved in a scuffle with the management of a hotel in Paris where they were staying, after having one too many to drink.
The management of the airlines has launched an inquiry into the incident and it has been reported that the crew members involved in the incident, will not be let-off easily.
According to a statement issued by PIA’s spokesman Danyal Gilani, the chairman and CEO “have taken strict notice of the matter and ordered [an] inquiry into the incident.” The statement added that “severe action would be taken against those found guilty.”
According to a source privy to the situation, around 13 crew members of the national carrier were involved in the incident. The crew members got drunk and they later misbehaved with the management of the hotel, creating a scene at the hotel’s lobby area.
The management of the hotel dealt with the rowdy crew members and later warned the management of the airlines to ensure that such incidents don’t take place in the future.
The names of the crew members involved in the incident are being kept confidential but it has been learnt through different sources, that 11 of the crew members belonged from Lahore and two from Islamabad.
Three years ago, a PIA pilot was jailed for nine months in England after he was found drunk before operating an A-310 flight carrying 156 passengers. He was later dismissed from service.
