A woman from Khanpur, who alleges she was gang-raped by an MBA and his two friends, has still not been able to get a case registered against the suspects. According to the details provided, the incident took place on October 14, and the woman went to the District Police Officer’s (DPO) on October 18 and 19, but she was not able to meet him.

The woman alleges that she is being kept from getting the case registered as it is an MPA’s son who is involved. She said that when she went to the DPO’s office, his staff said that she was travelling and not available in his office in those days.

According to the victim’s account, whose identity is being kept confidential, she was kidnapped by the MPA’s son and his two accomplices, from her home on late Friday night.

She was then gang-raped and later set free. On Saturday when she reported the matter to the Khanput Sadar police, her case was not registered and since then she hasn’t been able to do so due to one excuse or another.

According to a source, more than 20 influential people of the city have been trying to pressure the woman to withdraw the charges against the alleged suspects, and as a bribe, they have even offered her Rs. 1 million in compensation money.

However, when she refused the money, the same amount was given to a negotiator who is very close to the city MPA.

After failing to get the case registered, the women contacted the local newspaper and told her story so that the government can help her.
