Pierce Brosnan stars in Pan Bahar ad; later accuses company of ‘deceptive use’ of his image
Friday, October 21st, 2016 4:13:07 by fatimaarshadWhen James Bond actor, Pierce Brosnan’s fans first saw him in an Indian pan masala ad, they were in disbelief. Initially, a lot of people thought that it was a hoax and that Brosnan’s face was just pasted from the internet onto the printed ad. However, when the video of Brosnan endorsing Pan Bahar, also made rounds on media channels, everyone was in shock!
However, it all makes sense now as an official statement from Brosnan shows that he was not aware that he was actually endorsing something that is bad for health and that his image was ‘deceptively used’.
“As a man who has spent decades championing women’s healthcare and environmental protection, I was distressed to learn of Pan Bahar’s unauthorized and deceptive use of my image to endorse their range of pan masala products,” said Pierce Brosnan.
He added, “I would never have entered into an agreement to promote a product in India that is dangerous to one’s health.”
Brosnan further clarified that when signing the contract, he was told that the product is all natural and that it neither contained tobacco nor supari or any other harmful ingredient. He added that his contract actually stated that he was endorsing a ‘breath freshener/teeth whitener’, without mentioning that it even turned the saliva red.
Brosnan lost his wife and daughter to cancer, therefore the actor feels very strongly about cancer-causing elements.
“Having endured, in my own personal life, the loss of my first wife and daughter as well as numerous friends to cancer, I am fully committed to supporting women’s healthcare and research programs that improve human health and alleviate suffering.”
He then offered his sincerest apologies to all the people he offended and resolved to rectify the matter as it was in violation of his contract.
