Retired school teacher tries to commit suicide over principal’s behavior
Monday, November 7th, 2016 2:48:13 by fatimaarshadA retired school teacher in Dera Ghazi Khan tried to end his life after he faced very rude behavior from the principal of the school where he used to work.
According to the details provided of the incident, the teacher, identified as Muhammad Ayub Khosa, had been trying to get his pension after retiring from service at the Government Higher Secondary School. Khosa had been the teacher there for the past 40 years and he thought of leading a peaceful life after retiring from service.
However, he started facing financial problems after he did not receive his pension on time. To expedite his pension process, he had been visiting the office of Education District Officer (EDO) Irshad Ahmed Tarar and School Principal Abid Hussain Qaiser. However, he was never provided any assistance and his case remained stalled.
“Although I visited them several times and requested the officials concerned to facilitate me, they resorted to delaying tactics and failed to address the matter,” he said.
Khosa further said that since he needed the money urgently, he went to the school and met the principal again, but this time around, Qaiser tore his pension papers and threw them in the dustbin.
Disheartened by such an attitude, Khosa went home and took poison pills. Thankfully his family members responded immediately and rushed him to the Dera Ghazi Khan teaching hospital where he was provided first aid and his life was saved.
Meanwhile the EDO denied having knowledge of such a case and said; “I did not receive any pension application of the said schoolteacher,” he added, “All such cases are forwarded to me by the district officer, which are sent to the higher education secretary for approval without delay.”
