On November 14, Indian media revealed the seven Pakistani soldiers died during an unprovoked shelling attack by India along the Line of Control (LoC). At that time, Army’s media wing, ISPR had revealed that “Pakistani troops while responding to unprovoked Indian firing targeted Indian posts effectively”.

However, during an informal chat with journalist at the Presidency where he was attended a dinner hosted by President Mamnoon Hussan for the Turkish President, General Raheel Shareef revealed that 11 Indian servicemen were also killed in a retaliatory fire by Pakistan. “So far, 40 to 44 Indian soldiers have been killed in skirmishes,” the Army Chief added.

The incident took place in an area of Azad Jammu and Kashmir called Bhimber, and initially it was being portrayed by the Indian media that the casualties were only at the Pakistani side.

General Raheel further added that Indian Prime Minister Narehdra Modi must have fully realized by that that what Pakistan’s armed forces are capable of. “He [Modi] knows what we are doing and what we can do. He has come to know that aggression is counterproductive,” he added.

Ever since the Uri attacks took place, India has been placing the blame for those attacks on Pakistan, without any solid evidence. New Delhi blamed Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Muhammad militant group, but since now, not a single solid evidence has been presented to support that claim. Skirmishes along the LoC have also increased since those attacks, whipping up war hysteria.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also said that any attempt to harm Pakistan will be met with a ‘befitting reply’.
