Ricky Martin announces engagement to Arab artist Jwan Yosef

The 44-year-old Puerto Rican pop star Ricky Martin recently broke news of his engagement to Arab artist Jwan Yosef. Martin appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres show in which he revealed this happy news to his fans.

The Livin La Vida Loca singer came out in 2010 and since then, he has been romantically linked with a few men. Martin generally keeps hush about his private life, therefore it was quite unusual for him to announce this happy news on a television show.

After revealing his engagement plans, Martin opened up about how he met his significant other and how things progressed. According to the details provided by the singer, he met his Syrian-born, Swedish raised 32-year-old artist at Jwan’s conceptual art exhibition.

“I saw his art and I went crazy because I really love what he does. Really original. And I contacted him and then I collected him,” Ricky told Ellen.

On being asked how he proposed, Ricky said he nervously popped the question by declaring he “got something’” for Yosef instead of just asking him to “will you marry me.”

“Bad! And then he was like, ‘Yes’. I said, “I want to spend my life with you” and he was like, ‘what is the question?’ “Would you marry me?”

“Yeah it was very beautiful and then you know it was very beautiful. And then 30 minutes after I said, “Did you say yes?” Yes, he said yes.”

After tying the knot, Martin and Yosef will be living with Martin’s eight-year-old twin sons Matteo and Valentino.
