According to the latest reports, the members of the inquiry committee and the medical board which were constituted by Sindh Chief Minister met up with the victim’s family on Sunday to get an update on his current state.
The sufferings of Muhammad Ahmed, victim of the teachers’ beating, were brought to the nation’s attention when a local news channel aired his story on television. It was learnt that Ahmed had been severely tortured by his teachers at Cadet College Larkana, due to which he lost control of his limbs, and other bodily functions. His condition is so bad that he cannot even chew and ingest solid food and instead is on liquid diet.
Ahmed’s father, Muhammad Rashid, told the reporters that he had spent all his income on his only son and neglected his five daughters for his sake. As per the doctors’ current assessment, Ahmed will have to be sent abroad for his treatment, but his father says that he is out of funds.
The inquiry committee met with Rashid on Sunday and reviewed Ahmed’s medical reports and other details. Secretary Health Usman Chachar also visited Muhammad Ahmed and his family and summoned a meeting of the medical board on Monday. He directed the board members to hold a complete medical check-up of the victim and then come up with detailed recommendations. The decision to treat Ahmed in Pakistan or abroad will also be taken in light of these recommendations.
