Teenage girl molested in Muzaffarabad over property dispute
Tuesday, December 6th, 2016 12:40:25 by fatimaarshadA teenage girl was allegedly molested by three men, out of which one was also a police officer, in Muzaffarabad over a property dispute. The girl, whose real name is being kept confidential, is 14-years-old and not only was she molested, but the perpetrators also took pictures of her in a compromised state.
The girl, while talking to reporters, claimed that she was sexually assaulted by her distant relatives over a property dispute between her family and that of the accused. Even the victim’s elder brother corroborated the story and alleged that constable Asghar Ali and his family had been threatening them to give up ownership of a piece of land.
The land is around 15 kanals in size located in Nairiyan village, in Langarpura Union Council of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). The victim’s family had gotten the land in 1995 after swapping it with their paternal uncle. Constable Ali’s family used to graze their cattle there.
“They cannot graze cattle anymore which is why they have developed enmity with us,” added the 21-year-old brother of the victim, who works as a domestic servant at a government official’s house.
The victim’s uncle Yousaf, claimed that his niece, who is a student of sixth grade, was in school when Farooq, one of Ali’s sons and a volunteer teacher at the same school, asked her to go home before the school was off.
While she was on her way home, three men stopped her.
“Two of the attackers tore her shirt apart, molested her and took pictures of her from their mobile phone while the third, also a police employee, looked on,” Yousaf claimed.
“It lasted for about half an hour,” he said, adding the three then fled from the scene.
The victim also showed her torn clothes to authorities.
Despite registering a complaint with the police, an FIR has still not been registered because of the involvement of a police officer in the case.
“Instead of giving us justice, police is asking us to reconcile with the accused,” Yousaf added.
The victim’s family also met Muzaffarabad Deputy Commissioner Tehzeeb-un-Nisa and provided her with an application narrating the incident.
