Faryal Makhdoom’s in-laws share their side of story

Boxing champ Amir Khan and his wife Faryal Makhdoom have been in the headlines lately for a family feud which was highlighted by the later on her social media account. Earlier this month, Faryal Makhdoom had made some allegations against her in-laws on her Snapchat account, saying that they bullied her, hit her and even tried to engineer a divorce between herself and her husband once.

After a keeping a mum about the entire situations, her in-laws have finally spoken up, explaining their side of the story. Amir Khan’s parents, Sajjad Khan and Falak appeared in an interview with a TV channel, telling the world what sort of relationship they had with their daughter-in-law.

In an interview, Makhdoom had alleged that her in-laws cropped her out of family photos, hurled a remote control at her and even slapped her. She further said that the main problem between herself and her in-laws was the fact that she bared her skin in public.

Sajjad and Falak disparaged the allegations made against them by Makhdoom and claimed that they have never laid hands on her, and that they treated her like their own daughter.

“Faryal was adopting a dress code which in the Islamic faith was not acceptable. I am a father to two daughters whom I have treated exactly the same way as I have treated Faryal,” said Sajjad Khan, speaking to a local news channel at his home in Bolton.

He said he never said anything to Faryal, but did express his concerns to his son over her pictures in such dressing which she shared on social media.

“All this started with the issue of dressing. We kept asking Amir to tell her not to adopt such a dress code. And even if she had to wear such dresses, please don’t post it on social media,” he said.

Sajjad further said that Makhdoom does not respect their family and that he has no explanations to give over her ‘false accusations’.

Meanwhile Amir Khan’s mother, Falak, also spoke up during the interview and said that she had asked Makhdoom multiple times to take a dupatta (scarf), but she never listened.

Amir Khan and Faryal Makhdoom share a house in Bolton with the boxer’s parents, his brother and sister.
