Junaid Jamshed, Captain Saleh’s bodies identified

Following the PK-661 crash tragedy, family members of the victims are now anxiously waiting to get the bodies of their loved ones. Due to the excessive damage caused to the bodies because of the fire, it was impossible to identify them through the naked eye, hence DNA testing is underway.

According to the latest details provided, Islamic preacher Junaid Jamshed’s body has been identified, but it has still not been handed over to his family. Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Mushtaq Ahmad reported on Monday Jamshed’s body was identified after a face x-ray and using dental history.

Junaid Jamshed was coming back from Chitral after spending a few days there for spreading the message of Islam. He and his wife, Nayha Jamshed were on the ill-fated PK-661 flight when it crashed near Havelian while en route to Islamabad from Chitral on Wednesday.

Junaid Jamshed’s brother, Humayun Jamshed told reporters that his deceased brother’s funeral prayers will be held at Moin Khan Academy Ground DHA in Karachi on Thursday after his DNA results have been confirmed.

Meanwhile Nayha Jamshed’s body has already been identified through DNA testing and it has been handed over to her family in Lahore. Her funeral prayers will also be held in Lahore.

The body of the pilot of the crashed plane, Captain Saleh Yar Janjua was also identified and it has handed over to his sister in Islamabad on Monday. His funeral prayers were held at the Race Course ground in Rawalpindi, where hundreds of people came for his funeral prayers.

So far twelve bodies out of 47 have been handed over to their relatives.
