Teenage girl allegedly kidnapped by fake pir recovered
Tuesday, December 13th, 2016 11:13:21 by fatimaarshadAn 18-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped by a fake faith healer, had been found. The girl, identified as Saima, had gone missing from the pir’s house, where she had been taken to get a cure for her migraine.
Saima had been taken to the pir, identified as Abdul Kareem, by her brother Imtiaz in Muzafargarh. The faith healer had been operating in the area for the past few years but till now, none of his cases had been reported.
According to the details provided of the incident, when Saima was brought to Abdul Kareem’s place, he asked her family members to wait outside while he performed a spiritual ritual. After several hours had passed, her family members started to worry and when they entered the room, they found it empty. Both the girl and the faith healer had disappeared.
The family registered a complaint with the police, as a result of which the police arrested two of Abdul Kareem’s brothers. A police search for the missing girl ensued, and with the help of one of the brothers, Saima was found. However, Abdul Kareem claims that he has married the girl and he submitted official marriage documents to prove it.
Saima will now be presented in a local court to provide her account of what actually happened.
This is not the first time that such an incident has taken place. In October this year, a phony faith healer killed a boy while performing a fake exorcism on him. When the boy’s body was recovered, it was found out that he had been severely tortured and electrocuted.
