Funeral prayers for Junaid Jamshed to be held tomorrow

After more than a week of the horrific PK-661 crash which killed all 47 people on-board, including singer-turned-preacher Junaid Jamshed, identification of bodies is still going on. According to the latest details, the body of Jamshed has been identified and handed over to his relatives. His funeral prayers will be offered in Karachi on Thursday.

Junaid Jamshed’s brother, Humayun Jamshed collected his body from Islamabad on Wednesday. He told reporters that his brother’s funeral prayers will also be held at Noor Khan Air Base in Rawalpindi.

After the funeral prayers in Rawalpindi, Jamshed’s body will be transported to Karachi, where his final burial place will be located. His funeral prayers in Karachi will be offered at Moin Khan Academy in Karachi’s Defence area tomorrow.

Jamshed’s wife, Nahya Jamshed also died with him in the crash. Her body was identified earlier and it was transferred from DHQ Hospital Rawalpindi to Lahore. Her funeral prayers were also offered in Lahore, where her family belongs to.

Ever since news of Jamshed’s sudden demise hit the news channels, condolences for him have been pouring in from the world over. Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman arrived at Jamshed’s residence on Tuesday and offered his condolences to Humayun Jamshed over the tragic demise of his brother and sister-in-law.

The ATR-42 which was carrying 42 passengers and five crew members, crashed near Havelian while it was en route to Islamabad. The plane exploded into pieces and caught fire as it crashed, killing all those who were on-board the plane.

On Tuesday, a team of investigators from French company ATR visited the PK-661 crash site and have started collecting evidence. They are working alongside officials from the Pakistan International Airlines’ Safety Investigation Board, to find out what actually caused the plane to crash.
