R&B singer Trey Songz arrested for getting ‘belligerent’ when asked to cut concert short

R&B singer Trey Songz really lost his marbles at a concert in Detroit, when he was apparently asked to end his concert around mid-night. According to the details provided by the police, Songz started throwing microphones and other equipment off the stage when the organizers asked him to end his performance for the night at 11:30 pm.

A police sergeant was hit on the head with an object and was treated for concussion, according to Detroit Police Department spokesman Dan Donakowski.

Songz, whose real name is Termaine Aldon Neverson, was arrested from the venue on suspicion of malicious destruction of property and resisting arrest. He is still being held at a police detention center and will be released after a bail amount has been posted.

The incident took place on Wednesday night when Songz was nearing the end of his set at the Joe Louis Arena at 11:30 pm, when the organizer asked him to ‘finish up’. Instead of following the instruction, Songz became enraged and started throwing things off the stage. Thankfully none of the concert attendees were harmed.

Meanwhile Songz’ representatives could not be reached for comment and neither is the artist responding on his official social media accounts.

A video tweeted by a fan on social media shows Songz walk from the stage and into the crowd. After a short while, he is seen walking back on the stage and later being escorted away from it. The tweet also stated; ‘They turned off his mic’.

Songz is known for his R&B songs and is also nominated for multiple Grammy Awards and won the BET award for best male RB artist in 2010.
