Woman gang-raped in Islamabad; suspect an office bearer of PML-N
Monday, January 2nd, 2017 10:49:47 by fatimaarshadA woman was allegedly gang-raped by four men in Islamabad, and one of the suspects happened to be an office-bearer of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) (PML-N) Islamabad Chapter’s officer bearer.
According to the details of the incident provided, the woman, whose real name is being kept confidential for privacy reasons, was gang-raped on New Year’s Eve by four men. The case was registered with the Sihala police station, as the incident took place within their jurisdiction.
According to the details of the incident provided, the woman’s husband is a tailor and she had been looking for a job so that she could pitch in and make ends meet. She was living with her husband in a rented house in Ghouri Town in Islamabad and hails from Bahawalnagar.
“A week ago, I met [Suspect A], who gave me his mobile number and told me about a school he runs in Sihala. He then asked me to give him my CV and said he will hire me as a teacher in his school,” the victim said in her FIR.
“[Suspect A] called me for an interview in Sihala near the railway tracks on Dec 31. I reached the venue by 4pm. He then took me to a house nearby,” she said, alleging once they went inside the house, the accused made unwanted advances on her and tried to make her drink alcohol.
“He threatened me when I refused to have drinks with him,” she added.
“Soon after, three other men joined [us],” the woman said, claiming the men introduced themselves as MNA [Suspect B], SHO [Suspect C] and Judge [Suspect D] from Muzaffarabad.
The victim further said that her attackers got drunk and raped her repeatedly. She was able to escape at 6 am the next day when the men had fallen asleep.
A district session court in Islamabad sent the PML-N office bearer on a 14-day judicial remand to Adiala jail, whereas arrest warrants for the other three accused are also sought.
