Father of tortured maid forgives judge, wife
Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017 3:34:19 by fatimaarshadThe father of a child maid who had allegedly been tortured by an additional district sessions judge and his wife, forgave his daughter’s employers. The news came on Tuesday as the couple was facing an inquiry for their alleged involvement in keeping a juvenile housemaid in a wrongful confinement, burning her hand over a missing broom, beating her with a ladle, detaining her in a storeroom for days and threatening her with grave consequences.
The judge, Raja Khurram Ali Khan and his wife were booked after the 10-year-old maid recorder her statement before the police in the presence of Assistant Commissioner Potohar Nisha Ishtiaq.
However, the maid’s father appeared in court today and said that he forgave the judge and his wife and had no objections to the court granting bail to the suspects. He said that he had investigated the matter on his own and found out that there was no truth to the allegations made.
Khan’s wife was released earlier after posting a Rs. 30,000 bail amount.
The case of the tortured maid came to light after pictures of the torture marks made rounds on the social media. The police immediately took action and recovered the girl from the judge’s house.
Initially, the girl claimed that she fell from the stairs and received injury to her right eye. Upon being asked about the burn marks, she said that she spilled hot tea on her hand.
However, later she said that her owners would beat her often. She had been with the judge’s family for the past two years and alleged that her employers would beat her regularly and usually lock her up in a storeroom at night in addition to starving her.
The medico-legal officer of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) in his report stated: “There is swelling and blackening of right upper and lower eyelid … swelling and burn marks superficial in nature on the torso … abrasion on the right side of face and over left ear.”
The report also noted blunt and burn injuries and opined that the nature of wounds constituted a case under section 337 –A (i) and 337 – F (i) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
