Janet Jackson gives birth to baby boy at 50 years of age

Pop star Janet Jackson recently gave birth to her first child, a baby boy. The boy was born on Tuesday and the singing sensation had a stress-free pregnancy and delivery despite being pregnant at the age of 50-years, which is considered to be a high-risk pregnancy for this age.

Jackson and her husband Wissam Al Mana, named their son Eissa and announced the news on social media through their publicist, shortly after the delivery.

“Janet Jackson and husband Wissam Al Mana are thrilled to welcome their new son Eissa Al Mana into the world,” her rep tells Us. “Janet had a stress free healthy delivery and is resting comfortably.”

Jackson surprised her fans last year by abruptly cutting short her global tour and revealing that she and her husband were ‘planning our family’. Since then she remained pretty low-key and spent the time looking after herself.

In October last year, People Magazine published a picture of Jackson on a beach, holding her baby bump, which was quite evident at that time.

It is not unusual for women to be pregnant after their 40s, but such pregnancies are very unusual and are considered high-risk, so the expectant mothers have to be extra careful. The process of in vitro fertilization can also extend the age at which women can have babies.

Jackson got married to business tycoon Al Mana back in 2012, but she kept her personal life very low-key since then. Al Mana is a Qatari businessman who sells luxury fashion brands throughout Gulf Arab kingdoms.
