Two women come forward claiming to be tortured child maid’s mother
Friday, January 6th, 2017 8:15:24 by fatimaarshadThe case of the tortured child maid, Tayyaba, keeps getting more mysterious as now two women have come forward claiming that they are the girl’s mother. These women were previously unheard of and they only came forward once Tayyaba’s case came on the media.
The Supreme Court (SC) ordered DNA tests to confirm the identity of Tayyaba’s parents as now a number of people are claiming to be her parents.
The case of the 10-year-old Tayyaba made waves after her pictures, showing severe torture marks, were posted on the social media. Tayyaba had been working at Additional Sessions Judge Raja Khurram Ali Khan’s house for the past two years. When the police initially probed Tayyaba, she claimed that she had sustained those injuries due to several accidents while working.
However, Tayyaba later revealed that her employer, ‘Mano Baji’ had beaten her on several occasions. Most recently she had shoved Tayyaba’s hand over a burning stove for losing a broom.
An investigation was opened into the case but later, Tayyaba’s father submitted a signed affidavit stating that he had ‘forgiven’ his daughter’s torturers.
However, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mian Saqib Nisar took suo moto notice of the incident and inquiry into the alleged torture was opened again.
The CJP constituted a two-member bench to hear the case remarking that “No ‘agreements’ can be reached in matters concerning fundamental human rights.”
“Even parents cannot deny children their fundamental rights,” the judge observed. “How did they reach a settlement on torture against the child?”
The court summoned Tayyaba and her parents to court today but since this morning, they have been reported missing.
