A young man belonging from Islamabad was shot dead by a police officer causing major resentment amongst the locals. According to the details provided, the incident took place on early hours of Friday at Islamabad’s I-10/1 sector.

The victim has been identified as a young male by the name of Taimoor. According to police sources, Taimoor was asked to stop at a police checkpoint in Islamabad. However, he failed to comply to the order and rushed his vehicle forward. As a result, a police officer followed him and opened fire on his vehicle.

The suspect, identified as Samiullah Niazi of the police’s Eagle Squad, took a straight aim at Taimur’s head and shot him. The injury resulted in the immediate death of the victim at the spot.

Niazi fled the scene after the incident and according to police reports, a manhunt is underway in order to arrest him.

Police officials claim that they instructed Taimur to stop at the check-post but when he refused, Niazi took matters into his own hands and shot at him. However, Taimur’s family claims that they have seen CCTV footage of the incident and he was never asked to stop. Instead, they claim that the police officer just shot at him without any warning.

A female was also with Taimur in his car, and according to reports, she is in safe condition.

After the shooting incident, riots and protests were lodged on Islamabad’s IJP road which was closed for traffic causing a jam. Protestors also set a police camp on fire and caused destruction on the road.
