Lindsay Lohan shares feelings about Islam on Kuwaiti television show

Famed actor Lindsay Lohan has been making rounds on the internet lately, not because of her acting skills, but because of talk that she might have converted to Islam.

The Mean Girls actress was pictured holding a copy of the Holy Quran last year, after which the rumors regarding her conversion began. She even volunteered at a refugee camp in Turkey and was seen wearing a head scarf. Then when she wiped-off all her pictures from her Instagram account and wrote ‘Alaikum Salam’ on the main page, people went into frenzy.

Despite all the rumors, there was nothing official regarding Lohan’s conversion up until now. The actress recently appeared on a Kuwaiti talk show and shed light on her much-publicized relationship with Islam.

Talking to the host of the show Swar Shoaib, Lohan explained the background behind the famous picture of hers holding the Quran.

“My intention wasn’t to hold a religious book. I was just holding a religious book. But people in America didn’t like it. They judged me for it and were saying some really nasty things,” Lohan said.

She described the Quran as a ‘solace and a safe thing’ for her to have and she also revealed how she often practices writing some of its verses in Arabic and listens to it on her phone. Lohan also revealed that till now, she has read 15 pages from the Holy Quran in English and that she plans on reading more.

The 30-year-old actress said that the Quran was gifted to her by a close friend in London and that she had started reading it when she was going through a hard time in her life.

Lohan stopped short of confirming whether she had really converted to Islam and instead said that she plans on understanding this religion more.
