Indian nurse breaks newborn’s leg for crying incessantly

When parents bear children, they try to take their utmost care and respond to their every cry and whim. They trust the caretakers at their selected hospitals to do the same-however, that is not what happened in a recent incident in India.

In a horrific incident, a ward boy at a private hospital in India, broke the leg of a three-day-old baby boy for crying too much. The details of the incident reveal that the ward boy was alone at the time of the incident, and he harmed the baby because he was annoying him with his constant crying.

The boy was born at Roorkee’s Airan Hospital in India on January 25 and he was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the same hospital for respiratory problems.

According to the details provided by the child’s father, the ward boy who was alone on duty at the time, got frustrated by the baby’s constant crying and just went ahead and broke his leg. The parents did not immediately realized that the baby’s leg had been broken, and only came to know about it later.

The parents got to know about the broken leg after their baby was referred to another hospital and the doctors diagnosed him with a fracture. The father of the child then went back to Roorkee’s and asked to see the CCTV footage, in which he saw the ward boy committing the heinous act.

An FIR against the hospital and the ward boy has been filed by the baby’s father. “As per the complaint filed by the family, an attendant manhandled the child. We have also been handed over the footage of the whole incident; and have initiated a probe to find out the truth”, a police officer said.
